Sky Bar KL Reimagined: Iconic Views, Fresh Vibes & Unforgettable Nights!

Alright, fellow KL urban adventurers, gather ’round! Ten years ago, I first stepped into Sky Bar, and my jaw dropped harder than a durian from a tree, thanks to that iconic KLCC skyline view. Fast forward to now, and I’ve been invited back with my trusty companion Val to see the grand reveal of its much-anticipated upgrades. And let me tell you, even a two-hour battle with KL traffic (thanks, rain and roadblocks!) couldn’t dim the sparkle of this experience. Was it worth it? Absolutely, like finding an empty parking spot in Bukit Bintang on a Saturday night!

The Pool is Still Here (And So Much More!)

First things first, and I repeat for the people in the back: the pool is still here! That shimmering blue oasis that makes Sky Bar utterly unique? Untouched. But while the general layout remains comfortably familiar, some key transformations have taken place. Upon entry, you are greeted by a lush vertical, garden bringing some of that outside-inside feel, which makes Kuala Lumpur feels so green.

Gone are those rather rigid high tables and stools (which, let’s be honest, were fine for a quick sip but less so for a lengthy lepak session). In their place, you’ll find much more comfortable, dining-style seating. And fear not, the traditional sunken areas overlooking the KLCC park are still there, perfect for those Instagram-worthy moments.

Sip, Savor & Socialize: Cocktails & Bites Fit for the Scene

Now, let’s talk about the good stuff: the sips and the nibbles! We were treated to a delightful array of concoctions, lovingly crafted by the incredible bartenders Awang and Fita at the newly redesigned bar with copper-finish ceilings. They didn’t just mix drinks; they shared the history and story behind each one, making it an experience in its own right. Our picks for the night? The exotic Tiki Baru, the clever CTRL+Kopi (yes, it’s a pun, and it’s brilliant!), and the delightfully fruity Berry Me Up. The menu is inspired by the ‘Spirits’ (as in the spooky ones) around Kuala Lumpur linked with iconic landmarks.

To complement those fantastic drinks, we indulged in some delicious bites, perfect for the relaxed atmosphere. Forget calling it just “bar food”; this was an elevated experience. We devoured the legendary Sky Bar Bucket, a truly glorious mix of treats. Alongside that, the Fried Ikan Bilis and Sausage (a Malaysian staple done right) and perfectly Fried Crispy Calamari with Yuzu Mayo Dip. All made for an incredibly tasty spread. Definitely worth a shout-out!

Rhythms & Revelry: Live Music & Happy Hour

Sky Bar isn’t just about the views and delicious F&B; it’s about the vibe. They’ve got live music every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, setting the perfect backdrop for your evening. And the new K-Array sound system, endorsed by David Guetta, elevates the live performances. And finally, because we all love a good deal, their ‘Golden Hour’ runs every single day from 4 PM to 8 PM. Think RM88 for three cocktails or a cool 20% off most beverages. It’s the kind of offer that makes a mid-week catch-up feel like a mini-holiday!

Ring in the New Year with a Bang!

Looking for somewhere to bid adieu to the old and welcome the new? Sky Bar has your New Year’s Eve plans sorted! Expect a fantastic line-up featuring DJ FREEAZ, a live band performance by KIORA, and, of course, the traditional countdown. We’ll make sure to link their online brochure below so you can check out all the festive ventures. Plus, for those planning ahead, they also have special Christmas festive takeaways available. Handy, right?

The KL Vibe: Why You Should Make the Trip

Despite my epic journey through KL traffic, every moment at Sky Bar was thoroughly enjoyable. The new sound system means the music is present without being deafening, creating a pleasant ambience. The company was great, the food hit all the right notes, and those cocktails… *chef’s kiss*. This isn’t just a spot for tourists; it’s a lovely evening out for KL residents too. Whether you’re chilling with old friends or making new ones, head to Sky Bar. Spend some time, enjoy the incredible view, savor the food and drinks, and just soak in what this vibrant city has to offer. You won’t regret it!
